In August, industrial production decreased by 0.6 per cent from 97.9 points in the corresponding month last year. Figures from the National Statistics Office show that intermediate goods and consumer goods decreased by 2.6 and 4.7 per cent respectively. On the other hand, energy rose by 1.2 per cent and capital goods by 17.5 per cent.
At the NACE division level, the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products declined by 6.0 per cent. Other declines were registered in the manufacture of food products, manufacture of textiles, manufacture of wearing apparel, printing and reproduction of recorded media, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations and repair and installation of machinery and equipment. Conversely, the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, other manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply increased.
