Following a number of clusters of scabies in the community, the Superintendence of Public Health said that it has identified a total of 59 adults and 16 children who were found to be infested with scabies. The Department said that all confirmed cases have been treated and are no longer infectious. “All identified contacts were given preventive treatment.”
“All schools in which cases of scabies have been reported have now been investigated. Parents of exposed children were addressed by Public Health Specialists and prevention treatment given to all those at risk,” the Department said.
The Department concluded that “contrary to what was stated in some sectors of the media, no cases have been notified from Zejtun Secondary School.”
