The stories covered in this weeks issue are:
1. The Xaghra MUSEUM boys’ section is celebrating its 50th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, the society is holding various activities, including Mass led by archpriest Carmelo Refalo at St Gorg Preca square, in front of the MUSEUM premises.
After Mass, Mgr Refalo blessed a small statue of Dun Gorg. It is the work of Manwel Farrugia of Victoria, which was then placed in a niche on the facade of former MUSEUM member Louis Attard’s home in Church Street, Xaghra. The niche was constructed by the brothers Chris and Johny Camilleri, known as Tal-Gims. It is the first one ever dedicated to the Maltese Saint in Gozo. The society also published an anniversary booklet.
2. Bishop Joe Bonello of Xaghra, who was ordained Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras, last February, recently met Pope Benedict XVI at Castel Gandolfo in Rome. Mgr Bonello was among 114 newly-ordained bishops who had several meetings with the Pope.
3. A group of girls from the Fjur t’Assisi choir of the Capuchin church in Victoria, recently visited Rome. The group, led by Marita Cassar, also visited Assisi where the girls took part in a Mass celebrated by Fr Charles Baldacchino at the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi.
