As part of the eco-Gozo funding scheme for NGO’s, the Ministry for Gozo has awarded a grant of about € 1,650 towards the cost of publication of the book ‘Isle of Joy’ (based on philatelic representations of Gozo) launched at the Annual Philately Exhibition being held in Victoria.
This publication was distributed to members of the Society during the inauguration of the exhibition, which is orgainsed by the Gozo Philatelic Society and held at the Exhibition Hall of the Ministry for Gozo, Victoria. The publication is in English, contains 20 chapter as well as photographs and information about each location in Gozo.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono thanked the Gozo Philatelic Society for this initiative and for “its work over the years in promoting this hobby among Gozitan people with exhibitions and publications, as well as members who visit schools to promote philately to the students.”
The Minister concluded, “through this publication, the Society will not only be promoting the hobby of philately, but will be promoting the small island of Gozo in a book that will be welcomed by everyone, not only those interested in philately.”
The Annual Exhibition will remain open until this coming Saturday, the 19th of November between 8.30am to 4.30pm from Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 9am to noon.
