Gozo’s Aurora Theatre is gearing itself for its last two nights of entertainment for the year, starting with a dance interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s classic, Alice in Wonderland, produced by the Naupaca Dance Factory, which is taking place next Saturday, December the 10th 2011.
The production, entitled ‘Alice’s Adventures Under Ground [1],’ follows another successful event of Naupaca at the Aurora, the highly acclaimed ‘The Dream’ which was performed last May. A cast of over 150 dancers will dance to choreography by Joeline Tabone, Deborah Agius, Yosef Farrugia, Lara Vella and Dorian Mallia, with costumes by Luke Azzopardi to a concept designed by Maria Theuma and musical scores by Lukas Grech.
Naupaca Dance Factory’s contemporary dance interpretation of Alice’s story will attempt to translate the story’s Victorian quest for the origins of selfhood into an exploration of the materiality of the body.
Limited remaining tickets are on sale from the Aurora Box Office for €15 and €10. The show starts at 8pm. Doors are open from 7.15pm.
‘Alice’s Adventures Under Ground’ will be followed by The Leone Grand Christmas Show on the last Saturday before Christmas, the17th of December 2011. Running into its fourth consecutive year, the Aurora’s own version of Christmas variety will bring together the Leone Band, directed by Colin Attard and numerous up-and-coming singers and dancers from various schools on the islands.
A purely family show in concept, The Leone Grand Christmas Show is a must-go for all those who enjoy listening to the Christmas classics.
Tickets are on sale from the Aurora Box Office for €5. The show starts at 8pm. Doors are open from 7.30pm.
