Xaghra Local Council work projects nearing completion

The Xaghra Local Council is carrying our various works around the locality. Over the past few weeks, the Xaghra Local Council completed the necessary asphalting in Patri Mattew Sultana and Vestru Streets. The Council said that “these works took longer than forecast because of problems in the water system in these two roads. This work compliments earlier work carried out in the first part of Gnien Imrik Street. In the coming weeks, the Council are going to start the asphalting works in Mikelang Pace Street, George Mc Adam Street, Dun Vincenz Cauchi Street and Ghajn Lukin Street. These works are being financed by the Public Private Partnership Scheme launched by the Central Government.”

The Council said that it “has also managed to widen Parisot Street. This widening will lead to a better traffic flow in that area.”

Works on the belvedere in Church Street are nearing completion. The new belvedere is scheduled to be inauguarated in January 2012. Works are being finalised in Sellum and San Marzjal roads. The works consist of maintenance and construction of rubble walls in these two streets leading to Victoria.

It is estimated that the works will be fully completed by mid-December. These works are being financed by the Eco-Gozo Scheme launched by the Central Government.
