The Xaghra Local Council has said that it is “working hard to obtain extra funds which are added to the direct financial allocation that the Central Government distributes to every Local Council in Malta and Gozo. These funds are used so that the Council can create and implement various projects which might be of great benefit to the residents.”
“The application which was submitted recently under the Scheme for Cultural Initiatives 2012 has been accepted. The beneficiaries were announced and funds were presented on Wednesday, the 28th of December at the Music Centre in Saint James Cavalier, Valletta Malta,” the Council said.
This conference was addressed by Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Affairs, Fair Competition, Public Consultation and Local Councils together with Dr. Mario Demarco, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism. Councilor Dr. Kevin Cutajar LLD attended for this ceremony on behalf of the Xaghra Local Council.
Through these funds, the Xaghra Local Council said it “will organise the traditional feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot which will be celebrated in the village on Sunday, the 15th of January 2012. Among the activities which will be organised as part of this feast, are the dog and the cat shows, the children’s races, ‘terramaxka,’ the traditional horses’ blessing on Sunday morning and the traditional blessing of pets on Sunday afternoon.
