‘Before Dawn’ a new Gozo Creative Theatre Club production

The Gozo Creative Theatre Club’s latest production ‘Before Dawn’ is being presented in collaboration with the Gozo Culture and Information Office (Ministry for Gozo).

One of the best plays of all time which has been thrilling audiences since its premiere, Before Dawn is a timeless tale of passionate woman caught in a web of corruption, lust and betrayal. It is set in Rome on 17 June 1800 following the French victory in the Battle of Marengo.

The action takes place over an eighteen-hour period, ending at dawn on 18 June 1800. Its melodramatic plot centers on Floria Tosca, a celebrated opera singer; her lover, Mario Cavaradossi, an artist and Bonapartist sympathiser; and Baron Scarpia, Rome’s ruthless Regent of Police.

The Gozo Creative Theatre Club is an established drama group which regularly produces innovative and creative theatrical performances. In this production, George Mizzi the artistic director of the group, will be directing a splendid group of actors which include Dianne A. Portelli Galea, Jamie Camilleri, Darren Muscat, Neville Sultana, Charlene Galea, George Camilleri, Albert Gauci, Joshua Grech, Mark Lawrence Zammit, Anne Camilleri and Rebecca Scerri.

Before Dawn will be staged at St John’s Hall, Citadel Centre for Culture and Arts, Citadel, Victoria, Gozo on Saturday, the 3rd and Sunday, the 4th of March 2021 from 7.30pm onwards.

Entrance is free and seating for this performance will be on a first come first served basis.
