In the wake of the industrial action triggered to slow down or disrupt the Gozo ferry service, KNZ has said that it “would like to express its deep concern about the negative repercussions of such action. Without going into the merit of the issue concerned, KNZ strongly appeals to the parties involved to come into agreement without negatively affecting third parties.”
“The Gozo ferry service is the main channel between the two islands which is used by hundreds of youths and other commuters alike on a daily basis for work, study, health and leisure amongst others.” KNZ said.
“Slowing or putting the service at halt throughout the coming weekend will negatively impact the Gozitan youth community particularly those students and workers who will be returning to Gozo after a week of activity in Malta.”
“Furthermore,” KNZ concluded, “this will also affect the hundreds of youths who planned to spend the much awaited carnival weekend in Gozo. As Carnival marks one of the most significant events in the Gozo cultural calendar, this will expose the Gozitan economy particularly jobs to unnecessary risks. KNZ hopes that the situation will be resolved without any of the parties involved taking unnecessary actions.”
