Try and imagine what it must be like to run a marathon on hills, grass, sand and mud, then waking up the next morning and realising that you will be doing the same thing all over again that day and in fact…..every day for 39 days.
In March, Sports Therapist Anne-Marie ‘Arry’ Beresford-Webb (31) from, South Wales, UK, will be doing just that when she starts running a 1027 mile multiday trail Ultramarathon (1) in an attempt to raise £25K for two charities, The Gozo CCU Foundation (www.gozoccufoundation.com [1]) and Velindre Cancer Centre’s Stepping Stones Appeal for lung cancer research (http://www.velindrefundraising.com/steppingstones [2])
Arry’s parents, Anne and Chris Beresford-Webb were residents of Gozo, and were treated at the Gozo CCU prior to their passing away in 2007 and 2009. This run is being carried out in their memory.
The ‘Dragon Run 1027’ will start in Cardiff Bay on 24th March 2012, and will involve running 39.2 marathons (1027 miles) around the entire coastline of Wales and along the border of England and Wales over a maximum time of 42 days, returning to Cardiff on 5th May 2012, to coincide with the opening of the Wales Coast Path.
Arry will run the entire distance alone as her business and running partner Guy Hicks has unfortunately had to pull out for medical reasons, he will however be helping with logistics.
If anyone thinks that they will be able to provide any support, be that running parts of it with her, fundraising or providing logistical help, please get in touch.
A short promotional video has been filmed of Arry and Guy, describing the challenge and the charities that will benefit. This is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrh3RZ4hfP0 [3]

(1) An Ultramarathon is classified as any run that is longer than 26.2 miles in length.
