A Health Awareness Day took place today, organised by the Health Awareness Committee within the Gozo General Hospital.
During the event, which took place at the Arkadia Commercial Centre in Victoria, the numerous people that attended had the opportunity to check their weight and body mass index (BMI), blood pressure reading, blood glucose testing and intraocular pressure reading, all carried out by professional staff. A physiotherapist was also there for back screening and advice on posture control. Physical exercise sessions were held and for those able to, there was also the chance to donate blood.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, visited the event, which was among the first of its kind organised in Gozo. She praised the employees of the Health Promotion Section of the Gozo Hospital for their initiative and said that it demonstrates the commitment they have for providing and promoting these services for a healthy lifestyle.
