1. Sister Lidia Formosa, Sister of Charity, on Monday, the 12th of March 2012 celebrated her 103rd birthday at Villa Maria Annunziata where she is recovered.

Sister Lidia was born in Victoria Gozo on the 12th of March 1909. She has been in the congregation for 81 years. She served as a nurse in many different hospitals in Malta. During the Second World War she assisted wounded people at the central hospital in Floriana. Then she continued with her service as a nurse with the elderly at St. Vincent de Paul hospital for a long time.

Present for her birthday celebration were several members of her family, including Marija Grech, Miriam Grech and Anthony and Maria Mercieca.

2. The Nadur MUSEUM male section held a Last Supper display in San Gorg Preca Street, Nadur. The exhibition included 15 lifesize statues by James Azzopardi.

Another exhibition was held in Zebbug by the St Mary’s Band.

3. Xaghra parish organised an exhibition of artistic and devotional crucifixes at the parish centre as part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the devotional crucifix forming part of the crucifixion statue used in the Xaghra Passion procession.

The crucifix was brought over from Lecce, Italy, in 1913. In the exhibition, entitled Ave Crux (Sliem Ghalik O Salib), there were various crucifixes of historical value which belonged to ‘saintly’ people like Frenc tal-Gharb, Dun Mikiel Attard, Bishop Nikol Cauchi, Brother Baskal Farrugia OFM. Cap. and Dun Guzepp Cauchi.

Other crucifixes belong to monasteries and religious communities which have never been exhibited before.
