The Gaulitanus Choir recently participated in a Musico-Literary Soiree which took place at the Gharb Basilica.
This was attended by a large audience which packed the Basilica including Gozo Bishop Mgr. Mario Grech, Gozo Minister, Giovanna Debono and other MPs, Gharb Basilica Archpriest Can. Joseph Sultana and other members of the Basilica’s chapter, Gharb Mayor David Apap Agius and other councillors and several distinguished guests.
The choir intertwined with the speeches performing Litaniae by an anonymous late 19th century composer (soloists; Rita Dimech and Terry Shaw), Colin Attard’s Magnificat (soloist: Rita Dimech), Ave Maria!, a medley of well-known Ave Maria arranged by Colin Attard (soloists: Joseph Calleja, Rita Dimech, Terry Shaw), Luigi Fenech’s hymn Ave Maris Stella (soloists; Rita Dimech and Terry Shaw) and the Gharb festa antiphon Beata Me Dicent composed by Antonio Camilleri (soloists: Joseph Calleja and Ian Grech).
Jean Noel Attard on the violin and Stephen Attard on the organ accompanied the choir with Gaulitanus founder-director Colin Attard at the helm.
