Free dog neutering & micro chipping for owners on benefits

A free neutering and micro chipping campaign, which is being funded by Dogs Trust Malta is currently underway.

Dog owners on social government benefits (excluding children’s allowance) are able to take their dogs to any of the existing participating veterinary clinics and have them neutered and micro-chipped entirely for free. As well as people receiving benefits, the offer is also available to hunters dogs, farm dogs and factory dogs.

In Gozo, this service is only available with Dr. Frank Galea Med. Vet. Veterinary Clinic, Wied is-Seqer Street, Victoria, Gozo, who will issue the required vouchers on behalf of Dogs Trust Malta.

Applicable to Gozo residents only – To be able get free Neutering and Micro Chipping of your dog you must present one of the following documents:-

1. Pensioners – copy of “Karta Anzjan.”

2. Widows under 60 years, single mother, disabled, unemployed etc. – copy of benefit from Social Services.

3. Full/Part Time Farmers – something that shows they are a member of a co-operative or a declaration document.

4. Hunters – A valid hunting license.

5. Factory Dogs – a copy of the owner’s ID & name and address of factory, restaurant etc.

This proceedure can only be carried out by appointment, Gozo residents, please contact Dr Galea on 21554257 for an appointment.

Hi I have just seen on facebook you neutering dogs free if on benefits l have a 2 yr old rottie l am in receipt of income support l would like to get my dog neutered as he is very excitable he has been since got him only we have asked our vet about doing this but due to his size we bee told would cost us about £200 but being on benefits we cant afford to I live Exeter Devon please can you let me know if l am eligible for this scheme thanks Mags

The offer in question is applicable to neutering in Malta and Gozo.

Considering the fact that you are based in the UK, kindly contact your nearest Dogs Trust office for information about schemes available in your area.
