The Malta Youth Orchestra is looking for budding musicians who are eager to play with other musicians and willing to take their talents to the next frontier.
They will have the opportunity to make sensational music with experienced conductors and guest artists and to perform in some of the most prestigious venues in Malta.
Alongside strong technique, intonation and rhythmic sense, those interested should have huge energy for making music, an appetite for discovery, an open mind and a great team spirit.
Those eligible to apply should play either the flute, bassoon, trumpet, horn, violin, viola, cello, double bass or any other orchestral instrument and have a standard equivalent to Grade 7 (ABRSM/Trinity Guildhall/London College of Music) or higher, (although applicants don’t need to have taken any exams).
Rehearsals are held on Saturdays starting at 09:30 hrs at Robert Samut Hall, Floriana, starting on the 15th of September. Musicans will have the opportunity to perform in three grand concerts in December, April and the spectacular MPO & MYO concert at Pjazza San Gorg in June, working with the MYO artistic director Joseph Vella and the internationally renowed British conductor Peter Stark.
To apply, simply download the application from here [1] and email to info@maltaorchestra.com [2], or post to Malta Youth Orchestra Application Form, 88 Old Mint street, Valletta. Shortlisted candidates will be required to sit for an audition.
Closing date for applications is Friday, the 7th of September 2012.
