The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN) said in a statement on Friday that it fully supports a chemotherapy service at the Gozo Hospital, which will spare the ordeal of the journey to Malta by Gozitan patients
MUMN continued by saying that nurses and doctors in Gozo are capable of training and obtaining the necessary experience just as those in Malta, so why had three years already been lost to provide the necessary training in Gozo.
“The oncology department failed to recognise that Gozo General Hospital is actually better equipped than Boffa hospital, with health professionals in Gozo just as able and equipped to provide the same service as that in Malta.”
