As part of his visits to church schools in Gozo, the President of Malta, Dr George Abela recently visited the St Theresa Primary School in Kercem, which is run by the Carmelite Missionary Sisters of St Theresa of the Child Jesus, where he met students and staff at the school.
The Prime Minister was greeted by Mother Superior, Sister Lucy Vella, the Mayor of Kercem Mario Azzopardi and by the staff and students. During a short programme of welcome some of the students sang the school anthem as well as hymns. A poem dedicated to the President was also read out by one of the students.
In his speech for the occasion the President praised the management and organisation of the school and thanked the sisters and staff for their dedication to the welfare and education of the students. The President also presented books for the school library.
Mother Superior Sister Lucy Vella, in response, thanked the President for his visit to the school and presented him with a memento to mark the occasion.
