The St Joseph Band Club of Ghajnsielem in conjunction with Wirt Ghawdex, the Ghaqda Kazini tal-Baned and the Ministry for Justice, Dialogue and the Family recently held a series of activities in celebration of the feast of St Cecilia, the patroness of musicians and Church music.
The Celebrations were held at the Santa Cecilia Chapel in Ghajnsielem, now beautifully restored by Wirt Ghawdex and inaugurated in March this year
On the Feast day itself, a mass was celebrated by Fr Joe Cardona in the medieval Chapel dedicated to her name. A short talk about the Saint’s life was held afterwards. Other activities included a harp concert by Jacob Portelli and viewings of the Chapel.
During the final day of celebration a Mass was celebrated at the Ghajnsielem Parish Church in the presence of representatives of all the Gozo band clubs and members from the Ghaqda Kazini tal-Baned. The event was followed by a march by St Joseph Band which started from the main square ending at the club premises.
