New scholarship scheme launch
Education Minister Dolores Cristina has announced a new scholarship scheme for under-graduates and has also renewed the existing scheme for post-graduate scholarships. The Minister said that the government was committing itself to granting scholarships to up to 150 under-graduates for study in either Malta or abroad.

To be eligible, students must be Maltese or have at least one Maltese parent. They must also have resided in Malta for five years before the commencement of the course and have completed their term of compulsory education.

Furthermore, they must have the correct qualifications for the course they wish to take, must not hold an equivalent or higher degree and must not have previously benefited from a scholarship.

The assistance, dependent on the course selected, is either €465.87 plus €465.87 for each academic year plus €83.36 for each four weeks between October and June, or €698.81 plus €698.81 for each academic year and €146.75 for each four weeks.
