Labour Party is making unrealistic promises – Simon Busuttil

Earlier today, PN’s Deputy Leader Simon Busuttil launched the theme that will be focused on during this week of the campaign: ‘Wealth.’

The PN Deputy Leader posed these questions “with just three short weeks away from Election Day, the question that we should be asking ourselves is what direction do we want to take our country in over the next five years? What do I want for myself, for my children, for my country over the next five years?”

He stated that “the Labour Party is making unrealistic promises that will only drive our country’s finances into a wall. Unstable finances will mean increased taxes, less investment, increasing unemployment, and in turn, less investment into our country’s health services and education. We already went through this under previous Labour Governments, and we cannot afford to repeat the same mistakes.”

“The Nationalist Party is providing a clear answer: another leap in quality for Maltese families. With the Nationalist Party, you know where you stand and you know our direction: a safe and secure future that is built on three key policy areas – work, health and education.

“Over the past five years – despite the international financial crisis that struck so many of our European counterparts -the Nationalist Government successfully secured sound finances, continued and increased international investment and job creation, lower unemployment rates, a stronger economy, and reduced taxes,” Simon Busuttil said.

“A re-elected Nationalist Government will continue to ensure responsible governance that guarantees stable finances. We cannot take all that we have achieved for granted. One false move and all that we have accomplished may be lost.”

The PN Deputy Leader said that EU Membership and the €1,128 million in EU funds that Lawrence Gonzi secured earlier this month will be fundamental for our country. “Yet, mismanaged funds and projects will mean that we will lose out on the financial package that we fought so hard for.”

“A safe and secure future will only be possible if our country’s finances remain stable. Let’s not lose sight of reality and keep in mind what we have to lose: our country’s wealth and stability, and our quality of life and peace of mind,” Simon Busuttil concluded.
