H2 Channel to launch on GO TV and GO Interactive TV

GO TV will be launching H2® as from this Saturday, the 4th of May 2013. The channel, new to the TV market in Europe, will give local viewers – especially those who are avid history enthusiasts – the chance to explore the enticing world of ancient culture, eminent figures and epic events. GO said that H2 promises to delight viewers of all ages with diverse topics ranging from military history, modern history to science and technology.

Part of the A+E Networks® brand portfolio, H2 positions history in the context of today’s world, presenting information in highly innovative ways simultaneously offering viewers with a deeper perspective of – and deeper connections to – the world around them.

H2 was launched in the US in September 2011 and the channel is now available in almost 70 million households. Since its debut, the network has demonstrated amazing success in the US – a sure indication that it will enjoy the same popularity when it hits the European TV market in the very near future.

Speaking about the launch of H2 in Malta, GO’s Manager for Content and Digital Media, Michèle Dandria said, “H2 is a complimentary brand and natural extension of History and will offer viewers a deeper perspective of the world around them. H2 digs behind the story, covering military history, ancient history, modern history, science and technology, and will offer audiences a compelling mix of exclusive programming and original commissions. We are confident that our viewers will welcome the launch of H2.”

Tom Davidson, Managing Director at A+E Networks® UK, said: “H2 has been a huge success in the US where it has achieved fantastic ratings and I am delighted that we can now offer the channel to our audiences in Malta. H2 allows us to expand on the quality content available on our flagship History channel by representing the very heart of the History brand as well as offering viewers more information, more facts and even more entertainment.”

Premiering on the channel will be new series Serial Killer Earth and Ultimate Soldier Challenge. Serial Killer Earth is a 10 x 1 hour series that brings together a top team of experts to examine compelling footage of disasters from news and home video to explain what actually happened and how they compare with historic natural disasters of the past.

Ultimate Soldier Challenge is H2’s first ever military competition with each episode featuring three elite squads of military operators in head-to-head competitions and the series runs for 6 x 1 hour.

GO said that more new programmes to the channel include Time Team America, where three American archaeologists race against time on a US dig and Beast Legends, a series of programmes about legendary and mythological beasts.

H2® will also feature a dedicated Military Zone on Wednesday evenings and every night from 12pm.

H2® will be available on line ups for GO TV and GO Interactive TV as follows – GO TV channel 509 and GO Interactive channel 511.
