The Arka Foundation in Ghajnsielem has been providing its services during the last three weeks to a very special couple of German friends, who, over the last 10 years have cycled to various countries all over Europe.
Gottfried Preising, is a professional bicycle champion, his friend Lutz Krajinski is a severely disabled person.
Their adventure got underway from Erfurt – Munich and during their journey they visited the Alps, Toscana, Southern Sicily, Lourdes, Rome and many other cities. During their visits to Rome they had audiences both with Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis.
Over the last month they have been visiting Malta and Gozo. Gottfried and Lutz calculated that during this experience they cycled well over 45,000 kms. Along with them on the bicycle they carry about 200 kilos of clothes and food, as well as parts for their bicycle, etc.
To enable them to finance this experience they collect donations at every place they visit. The Arka Foundation gave its full support to the German couple, who visited Dar Arka through the recommendation of the President of the Malteser Association of Germany Herr. C V Brandenstein.
Both cyclists had words of praise for the hospitality and help of the Maltese people.

Was this 3 week stay free of charge or they were given accomodation etc for free with the usual excuse that they might offer their services..?? Arka board should specify..know several Gozitan cases who were often left out as they could not pay..
