After some early showers this morning, the skys cleared just in time for the Parade by the Victoria Scout Group as part of the celebrations to commemorate their 50th anniversary.
The Scouts marched from their Headquarters through the streets of Victoria to the Cathedral, where a Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated with the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech.
The Chief Scout, Chief Commissioner and other officials from the Scout Association and Maltese Scout groups, as well as Government representatives, including the Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo. were present for the Mass. The 1st Hamrun Scout Group – Duke of Argyll’s Own Pipe Band, participated in the celebration.
The Mass was followed by a Parade back to the Victoria Scout headquarters, passing by Independence Square where officials of the Scout Association of Malta took the salute.
The Minister for Gozo, unveiled a commemorative plaque for the occasion at the Victoria Scout Group headquarters.
