Additional €2m allocated to Gozo’s employment aid programme

“An additional €2 million will be allocated to the Employment Aid Programme for Gozo.” This was announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency 2017 and EU funds Dr. Ian Borg during his vist to the offices of the Employment and Training Corporation in Hal Far.

Dr Borg said that these €2 million will extend the help for Gozo in order to overcome the challenges within its employment sector. This new scheme will be launched in mid October and will remain open until the end of this year.

“Around three hundred individuals are expected to benefit from these additional €2 million,” he said.

The Parliamentary Secretary said that “this allocation continues to confirm that this Government is committed to make the best use of EU funds by helping entrepreneurs in the creation of new job opportunities.”

In fact the Employment Aid Programme gives the needed assistance to employers in the creation of more job opportunities for people who in one way or another are in a disadvantage compared to the rest of the society, Dr Borg said.

During this visit he also talked about the schemes and initiatives taken by the corporation through EU funds.

Dr Borg thanked the management and the workers at the Employment and Training Corporation for their daily commitment in assisting and giving the neccessary training to the individuals who are seeking a job.
