The Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Dr Stefan Buontempo together with the Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo, recently attended a Sports Festival held at the Gozo Stadium.
This festival was held on the occasion of ‘Move Week,’ during which a programme of physical events was held around Malta and Gozo, where over 100 children participated in various sports disciplines, including soccer, rugby and softball.
14 soccer clubs in Gozo joined together with other sports teams for the festival.
The Parliamentary Secretary stressed the need for physical exercise to aid good health and said that the campaign was undertaken to raise that awareness. It is important to inject a sporting culture into our country, he said. “The Government, through this campaign and other measures is working for society to be aware of the importance of sport.”
Dr Buontempo thanked all those who participated in the Gozo festival, especially the managers of the teams for their dedication in getting people to take part in sport .
