Alternattiva Demokratika said today that it applauds Maltese Civil society for taking a stand on the citizenship acquisition issue. Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson.
Prof. Arnold Cassola, said, “we thank the members of Civil Society, including UHM, Feltom, ELSA, the National Council of Women and writer Antoine Cassar, for responding to our call to unite against the proposed new citizenship law, in particular the anonymity clause and the concept of buying and selling citizenship without the need of ever setting foot in Malta.”
“This strong voice of civil society should serve as a spur to government and the opposition to come to a reasonable compromise on this delicate issue,” Prof Cassola concluded.
