The Xaghra Local Council has said that it is currently holding discussions with foreign counterparts on the possibility of bringing over a number of fig trees from Italy.
These trees will be available to Xaghra families at a subsidised price. The Council said that in order to have a better idea of how many trees it needs to order, it would like interested persons to register their name, together with the number of fig trees they intend to purchase, at the Xaghra Local Council’s administrative office by not later than Friday, the 21st of March.
This initiative is being taken to promote the figs festival which the Xaghra Local Council has been organising in the locality since 2010.
