The Malta Historial Society, in collaboration with the Notarial Archives Resource Council, have organised a public lecture by Dr Theresa Zammit Lupi Ph.D, on ‘The Cantilena,’ a lyrical poem written by Pietro Caxaro before 1485, which is the oldest known text written in Maltese, and is found in the notrial deeds of Brandano Caxaro which date between 1533 and 1536.
This lecture describes and explains the materials and techniques used to produce this medieval manuscript and the efforts that have gone into its conservation and presevervation.
The lecture is taking place at the Fortifications Interpretation Centre, St Mark Str., Valletta, on Tuesday, the 18th of March, starting at 6.30pm.
