Xandru Alex Mamo, aged 43 of Xaghra, appeared in the Gozo Court this afternoon charged with attempted murder.
Mamo, who is also a relapser, was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to grievously injuring his former partner, 48-year-old Silvia Zammit from Xaghra.
The Police were called to Sylvia Zammit’s home in Triq Guzeppi Grech, at around 7.00am on Saturday morning, where they found her lying on a bed with a head wound after being stabbed with a screwdriver
Preliminary investigations by the Police found that the incident had taken place following an argument that arose between the victim and Xandru Mamo.
Inspector Frank Anthony Tabone prosecuted.
Magistrate Josette Demicoli refused to grant the accused bail and he was taken to the Corradino Correctional Facility.
