Parallel Imported Medicines:
Parallel importation is the importation of a medicinal product from within the European Union by an importer who is someone other than the Marketing Authorisation Holder, or the importer authorised and appointed by the Marketing Authorisation Holder of the Maltese-market product. Such product must be already authorised on the Maltese market and in the Member State of origin.
The prices of parallel imported products as listed hereunder will also be going down as from 1st June 2014 :

Consumers are encouraged to discuss the choice and use of medicines with the pharmacist or doctor. For this reason, The Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties together with the Medicines Authority and the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority is embarking on an educational campaign to encourage better patient participation in the choice of medicines. This includes the choice between products with different prices.
A helpline (2343 9111) has been set up at the Medicines Authority to deal with queries and/or to give futher information to consumers. This helpline can be contacted between Mondays and Fridays from 09:00hrs to 13:00hrs.
