A 26-year-old Nadur man has been granted bail in the Gozo Court today after pleading not guilty to grievously injuring his three-month-old daughter.
The Police were alerted by medical officers at Mater Dei after the baby girl was admitted to the hospital with bruising and internal injuries. The man was then arraigned by Police.
The accused denied the allegations and said that the child had been having a fit, and after calling his mother, they then rushed the child to the hospital
The baby girl’s mother was not at today’s hearing, however, the Court heard that no accusations had been filed by the parents against each other.
Magistrate Paul Coppini granted bail against a deposit of €1,00, as well as a personal guarantee of €5,000.
The Judge issued a protection order for the baby girl and the accused was ordered not to approach his daughter.
Inspector Joseph Busuttil and Inspector Frank Tabone prosecuted and Lawyer Lucio Sciriha appeared for the accused.
