Din L-Art Helwa has announced the launch of a new publication titled ‘Mattia Preti, A Guide to His Paintings in the Churches of Malta and Gozo.’
This is a pocket-sized book, packed with information about the paintings and the churches they are located in. Handy plans with the position of each painting facilitates their identification, and will help the reader on his journey of discovery of the wonderful legacy by this great artist in the churches of many towns and villages.
The guide book is written by well-know historian and conservators Sante Guido and Giuseppe Mantella, who have conducted extensive research on Mattia Preti, as well as restored numerous paintings by the “Cavaliere Calabrese.”
This project was made possible through the generous funding by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, in conjunction with the Small Initiatives Scheme, and produced by a team of Din L-Art Helwa volunteers.
