The Gozo University Group has said that the issue of traffic related problems, specifically for Gozitan students, is of concern to them.
GUG said that it feels that there should be no increase in student bus fares, as this would discourage students to use public transport, which would not only lead to an increase in traffic, but also would exacerbate existing parking problems.
“The costs are not the only issue,” GUG pointed out. “It is essential that the new public transport operator provides a reliable service. Long waits and late arrivals would definitely discourage the use of the service.”
According to GUG, a subsidy for public transport for students “is essential to keep this traffic congestion from increasing further and creating further havoc in the streets.”
