Today the Law Court in Valletta sentenced two men to pay €1,500 each for illegal bird trapping.
According to CABS the trappers were filmed by its volunteers last December when they tried to catch protected Lapwings close to Fomm ir-Rih.
The photograph shown above was presented as evidence at the court and shows one of the men holding a protected Lapwing in his hand.
In another case heard by the court today a hunter from Ta´ Santi was found guilty of hunting outside the season on the 1st of May 2014. He was sentenced to a €1,000 fine. Also in this case CABS provided the evidence.

1500 euros for trying to trap protected lapwing that’s a joke..what punishment I would dispense,is unprintable!!!
