This coming Sunday at the Aurora Theatre in Victoria, Gozo, Winter Moods & Friends will be performing an inclusive concert for persons with disability, which will also incorporate presentation of The Premju Socjetà Gusta – Fair Society Award [1]s, under the distinguished patronage of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, the President of Malta.
More than 20 nominations were submitted for this first edition of The Premju Socjeta’ Gusta, the Secretariat said that it is nothing short of the celebration of a great deal of work, commitment and dedication being taken by the people involved in this sector.
This award will be presented in three categories. These are: ·
Special Award for Commitment to the Disability Sector
Prize to that person or organisation that has made a mark in this field
Award for Direct Action and Activism of Persons with Disability
This is intended to become an annual event that will be part of the celebrations that take place during the international disability day, the 3rd December of ever year.
The Secretariat said that the purpose of the granting of these Awards is to celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations that are supporting a disability rights-based culture. The Government is duty bound to express its appreciation to all those working towards the creation of a more inclusive Maltese society whereby people with a disability, their families and carers have access to the full range of supports to assist independent living and active engagement within their communities.
The core principle that will guide these Awards is that people will be considered if they are actively seeking inclusive and accessible communities and contributing towards the fact that persons with a disability take part in the community.
This concert, organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat of the Rights of the Disabled and Active Ageing, starts at 8.00pm, and is being held in aid of the Marigold Foundation and therefore a donation of €5 will be collected at the door. For VIP areas, a donation of €10 is required.

Launched in 2014 and supported by the Bank of Valletta (BOV), the Marigold Foundation offers valuable support wherever it is needed. It is both voluntary and non-profit making.
As an organisation, the Foundation recognises that there are already so many associations, entities and NGOs doing sterling work across the Maltese Islands. Their awareness campaigns, fundraising efforts and on-the-ground successes all contribute to improving lives and bettering our society. They are true pillars of the community and they deserve to be supported in as many ways as possible.
This is where the Marigold Foundation comes in. Its objective is to positively empower people and to work with them to raise standards, support initiatives and strengthen voices.
