Malta International Airport said in a statement this morning that it has heightened its security procedures in line with international protocol following global reports of increased threats to airports.
Although there is no specific threat to Malta, MIA said that it is committed to prioritising passenger safety and will therefore be implementing all necessary actions on an ongoing basis.
“These measures should not alarm or cause any inconvenience to our passengers. MIA will keep the public informed on any developments,” it said.
