Two British men, aged 35 died today, after they found themselves in difficulty while swimming at the Blue Lagoon in Comino. The incident happened at around 3.30pm this afternoon.
Members from the Armed Forces of Malta went immediately on site to assist the two persons.
The Police said that one person was taken by a private boat to Mgarr Harbour, Gozo. whilst the other person was airlifted to the Gozo General Hospital by AFM helicopter.
Unfortunately they were both certified dead. The Police advised that the identity of the men is not yet known.
Duty Magistrate Dr P. Coppini LL.D was informed about the case whereby he appointed several experts to assist him in the Inquiry.
Police investigations are still underway.

I think we should implement the “red flag warnings” at Comino; when the current is strong, it is nigh impossible to swim against it unless you are a very strong swimmer (so I found out myself a couple years ago). Drowning at Comino is becoming a yearly occurrence.
