The Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Joe Mizzi, has announced the launch of new bus routes for Gozo. These routes will start from Sunday, the 21st of June, and will be phased in,
The Minister explained that the new routes are the result of several meetings and consultations held with both with the public as well as local councils. Above all, these consultations were made directly with the Maltese and Gozitan people who use the service.
The changes will see an annual increase of 96 403 kilometres in routes covered per year, as well as an extra 4 buses together with the 10 in use at the moment.
He said that as well as now operating 14 vehicles, there will be the alteration or extension of six existing routes and increased frequency or change in the times of 8 routes. There is also an increase of 34 new bus stops, bringing the number in Gozo to 335.
The Minister said that the new Gozo routes will further strengthen the service offered to Gozitans, as well as to visiting tourists, particularly now that the summer season is underway.
As part of the information campaign, Transport Malta has issued a booklet of information, which will be delivered to Gozitan households to explain the changes made, and also includes a list of all routes and schedules.

Further to the proposed improvements to the bus service in Gozo, I felt that I would like to thank all who have provided what, for me, has been an excellent service to date, and look forward to a better overall public transport provision on the island for residents and visitors alike. Can I also say that the information booklet is an excellent publication, clear, concise and informative. A refreshing change and worthy of comment and thanks to those involved in the booklet’s production.

Yes it is a well-made booklet but lacks one thing, that is any indication of what time the bus’s arrive and leave from your bus stop. Without that information how can you plan your journey
