The Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra from the UK, are currently on a summer tour to the Maltese Islands, and will be performing a concert in Gozo this Saturday evening, organised by the Gozo Cultural Council.
The venue is St George’s Square in Victoria, for a concert of classical music and the programme will include Dvorak, Cello Concerto with the participation of leading cellist Daniel Benn. The musical director is Robert Hodge.
Founded in 1944, Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra is probably the longest-established youth orchestra in Surrey and London. Its aim is to provide an orchestral environment which is challenging, fun, friendly and supportive, in which young musicians of all backgrounds can develop their skills and nurture a lifelong love of music.
This free of charge concert, on Saturday, the 25th of July, gets underway at 8.00pm.
