The Police have said that an Italian tourist sustained grievous spinal injuries when she fell off a rented quad bike being driven by her husband.
The accident happened yesterday, at about 1pm, while the couple were in Wied il-Mielah, Zebbug, Gozo.
The Victoria District Police said that the couple were descending a hill when the vehicle toppled over.
The woman, however, did not realise the extent of her injuries and she only sought medical assistance when she later could not bear the pain.
She was subsequently taken to Gozo General Hospital, where it was established that she sustained grievous spinal injuries.
