For children, summer is typically associated with entertainment. However, their parents prefer the children to spend this time taking part in an educational entertainment experience, therefore helping to make a difference in their future. So said the Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo, during an activity held at the Sports Complex in Victoria to celebrate the completion of Skolasajf 2015.
Dr Refalo said that his dream as a Minister, is to see these students recognise their potential, he reiterated how important it is for Gozitan students to be active both in winter and in summer.
This year, the Foundation for Educational Services who organises the Skolasajf programme, chose the theme ‘Our World, Our Dignity, Our Future’ which is the theme of the European Year 2015. During this year the theme is promoted through the message that “we all make part of one world, in which there should be no differences between humans. And so it is therefore important that all human beings, especially children have the same dignity and opportunities.”
Through the Skolasajf programme students had the chance to take part in activities organised by MEUSAC and the HSBC Water Programme.
Dr Refalo said that through these activities the students learned a great deal, including how to use water wisely and in a sustainable way, together with the conservation of water. This project was supported by the HSBC Water Programme -Catch the-Drop Campaign.
Minister Refalo reiterated his satisfaction on the success of the programme this year and reminded the students present to make good use of what they had learned, and to pass the message on to parents and relatives. He wished the students well for the rest of the summer, and offered his congratulations to them for the new school year about to begin.
