The Danish company FolkeFerie.dk has been supporting Nature Trust (Malta) for the past 5 years and this year presented Nature Trust (Malta) with a cheque for €970 towards Turtle and Hedgehog Rehabilitation.
Thanks to the invaluable support of FolkeFerie.dk, NTM said that it has this year been able to rehabilitate 5 Loggerhead turtles with several more still undergoing treatment and over 40 hedgehogs, again with several more still under treatment.
NTM said that it is very proud to have such a corporate sponsor contributing towards the conservation of our local biodiversity.
"FolkeFerie.dk have been bringing Danish tourists interested in the natural heritage of Malta to our islands and has collaborated with NTM in ecological walks and activities and this in turn led to their help with the rehabilitation of wild injured fauna through their fundraising activities," NTM said.
The funds FolkeFerie.dk have raised go towards the medication, feeding and caring of these animals until they are fully recovered and able to be released back into the wild.
Mia Vella of FolkeFerie.dk said, "in cooperation with Nature Trust Malta, Folkeferie.dk has organised walking tours around Malta for the past 5 years. It was during these tours that we were made aware of the need to protect and support the Maltese wildlife."
"This summer we also organised fundraising BBQs, where our Danish guests contributed donations through their participation."
Mia Vella concluded by saying, "we are very pleased with the response we received from our guests and we look forward to following the hard work done for Maltese Wildlife by Nature Trust Malta."
