The Police have advised that an explosion was heard in Triq Gnien Xibla, Xaghra, Gozo, at about 3.50am this morning.
Preliminary investigations by the Gozitan Police found that the explosion took place outside a residence in the street. Although no one was injured, two vehicles that were parked in front of the residence, a Mercedes and a Ford Transit as well as a garage door were damaged in the blast.
Members from the Civil Protection Department together with members from the Armed Forces of Malta were called on site to assist.
Duty Magistrate Dr Paul Coppini LLD was informed about the case, and appointed several experts to assist him in the inquiry.
Police investigations are still underway.
