The Moviment Zghazagh Partit Nazzjonalista (MZPN) has expressed its support to the Front Favur il-Mina, which is fully working to improve accessibility between Malta and Gozo through a permanent link.
In a statement, MZPN said that this permanent link – a tunnel, should be in place after making adequate Environment Impact assessments for a project of this kind, while making the necessary studies and follow-ups as appropriate from the feasibility studies that have already been made.
MZPN said that it would lead to better accessibility between Malta and Gozo, therefore improving the quality of life of young workers who cross to daily to Malta to earn their livelihood, as well as students, because of their studies at the University of Malta, MCAST and ITS.
In addition, the MZPN stated that it would like to see more serious and concrete efforts by the Government to create more employment opportunities in Gozo for Gozitans, as promised, while also increasing investment in tertiary education, such as the University campus in Xewkija.
“This investment needs to be made, while also enhancing maritime services between the two islands and public transport in Gozo. Thus, helping Gozo not just be an island, but a region in Europe, as always strived for the by Nationalist Party,” the MZPN said.
