On Sunday, the Malta Cycling Federation held the last race of the season. The 70km race took place in the Maqluba area of Qrendi, and a junior Gozitan cyclist took first place in his category.
As a dedicated member of the Gozo Greyhounds Cycling team in Gozo, Brandon Sultana had an early start to the day in preparation for the race, taking the 6:00am ferry to Malta. 
17 year-old Brandon, who is from Xaghra, loves the sport and loves a challenge. He raced within his category, the juniors.
Louis Debattista of the Gozo Greyhounds said that he believes this is the first time in history that a Gozitan junior cyclist has achieved first place on the sprint finish after a 70km race.
“I am very proud of this young man and admire his discipline and dedication to training and racing on the Gozo roads. I would love to see more cyclists from Gozo take part in these competitions with the Malta Cycling Federation,” Louis commented.
