The Gozo Tourism Association, in a statement today has said that, while fully understanding the concerns of the Air Malta Pilots, it strongly believes however, that the contemplated industrial action at this sensitive time of the year, will have irreparable consequences to the tourism industry in Malta.
"Consequences that will cascade on to the sister island and badly affect the sensitive tourism industry on Gozo," the GTA said.
The Gozo Tourism Association added that, "whilst recognising every union's right to defend its members, is calling on the Pilots Association ALPA to be prudent in its decision."
"The national Airline remains the life line, particularly to the tourism industry, and the Gozo Tourism Association appeals to ALPA to follow its claims around the discussion table by sensitive and logical reasoning, keeping in mind the strategic role, Air Malta is playing in the connectivity to Malta and Gozo."
The Gozo Tourism Association concluded by saying, "Gozo like Malta, does need a stable tourism climate, and we augur, that the Pilots Association together with Air Malta reach an amicable agreement for the benefit of both parties and the tourism industry in general."
