The Minister for Social Policy, John Dalli in consultation with the House of Representatives Select Committee for Social Affairs, has appointed the first Council for the Voluntary Sector in accordance with the Voluntary Organisations Act 2007 (Part VIII) for the period of two years.
The members of the Council are as follows:

Ms. Nora Macelli (St. Jean Antida Foundation)

Mr. Antoine Vassallo (Gozo Philatelic Society)
Sector b(1) – Founders and Donors
Mr. Ian Azzopardi (Mission Fund)
Sector b(2) – VOs and Volunteers
Mr. Robert Farrugia (Eden Foundation)
Sector b(3) – Administrators of VOs
Mr. Reuben Buttigieg (Malta Institute of Management)
Mr. Robert Farrugia has been elected Chairperson of the Council for the same period. Professor Kenneth Wain as Commissioner, is ex ufficio Deputy Chairperson of the Council which had its first unofficial meeting on Wednesday 29th October 2008.
