APS Bank and Kummissjoni Djocesana Zghazagh (KDZ) recently presented financial grants awarded by the bank to youth organisations who submitted projects for approval by a purposely appointed committee. Applications were submitted following the launch of the second call for the provision of financial assistance in connection with Maltese catholic youth activities. The presentation was carried out by the Archbishop’s delegate for youth, Fr. Savio Vella sdb, and Mr. Jeremy Vassallo (Marketing Officer, APS Bank).
Members from ZAK (Zghazagh Azzjoni Kattolika), Navitas (Naxxar) and Kummissjoni Parrokjali Adolexxenti u Zghazagh Zabbar received the grant certificates during a short ceremony held at the Bank’s Head Office in Floriana.
Fr. Savio explained how with APS Bank’s financial assistance, KDZ was in a position to launch the grant scheme aimed at helping young people who are organising projects in line with the Synodal document ‘Youth and Adolescents’. This venture focuses on the concept of evolving pastoral youth work in today’s age. The second call was launched in February 2008 for projects to be realised between April 2008 and October 2008. The response was outstanding and the projects submitted reflected consideration and youthful creativity.
The KDZ’s director remarked on how a combined effort of APS Bank and KDZ is providing support for different initiatives taken up by youth in aid of fellow youngsters enabling the latter to actively participate within many a philanthropic and voluntary organisations.
Whilst complimenting KDZ for the work being done amongst youth, Mr. Vassallo stressed the fact that through these grants, APS Bank is, once again, supporting youth development, a community participation objective that the Bank has been endorsing for quite a few years.
During the coming days, APS Bank and KDZ will be launching the third call for applications for grants which will be eventually awarded to projects which will have to be implemented between November and April 2009. For more information and to download applications log on to www.kdz.org.mt [1] .
