The Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo, held a series of Skola Sajf school visits in the summer aimed towards teaching students the basics of water safety. Topics such as beach safety code, rip currents, sun related risks and beach flags were some of the topics covered.
The highlight of this activity was when the children were invited to visit the lifeguard stations at Marsalforn Bay and Hondoq Bay. During both visits, the lifeguards gave live demonstration. The students had the opportunity to try at first hand the use of basic water rescue equipment.
This initiative was funded by Agenzija Zaghzagh and was also supported by the Ministry for Gozo.
Currently, ERRC is also organising a series of underwater clean ups, also funded by Agenzija Zaghzagh.
