The Xewkija Local Council on Saturday signed its second town twinning with the Comune di Modica in Sicily.
Mayor Mr. Paul Azzopardi and the Comune di Modica Mayor Sign. Ignazio Abbate, completed the signing of the agreement in front of the Prekursur Band Club.
The ceremony also included a musical programme organised by the Band Club, a poem was read by Mario Borg and speeches for the occasion were made by the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, Parliamentary Secretary Dr Justyne Caruana, and the two Mayors.
To celebrate this event, the Local Council organised a three-day programme of festivities including a thanksgiving Mass in the Xewkija Rotunda, followed by a BBQ organised by Kumitat Zghazagh Brijuzi Xewkin at Gnien Blankas.
On Sunday, the Council and team supporters, together with representatives from the Comune the Modica, had planned to attend the BOV Gozo Football League match between Xewkija Tigers and Nadur Youngsters, unfortunately the match was cancelled due to the bad weather.
